Our Board of Trustees are responsible for ensuring that Action Against Hunger in the UK is managed in line with its vision and mission, that it abides by its charitable objectives and that it is compliant with legal and statutory requirements.
OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Paul is Chairman at XL London Market Ltd, the UK Subsidiary of XL Group PLC. Paul is an experienced Chairman and Non-Executive Director with a deep knowledge of the financial services (covering Insurance, Asset Management and Banking) and has a successful track record of increasing the value of companies. Currently, he is CEO at World Platinum Investment Council, Board Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee at Brewin Dolphin PLC and since 2006 Paul has been a Group Board Member and Adviser to Senior Management at Unigestion. Until recently, Paul was a Non-Executive Director at Abbey Protection PLC and before retiring in February 2014 Paul was a Partner at Bain & Company, previously leading their Financial Services practice. In 1999 Paul became a Trustee at Action Against Hunger in the UK before becoming Chairman in 2006. In 2013 he became Chairman of ACF International.
Until 2014 François Danel was the Executive Director of ACF-France. Since 1990 he has held various positions both within the Charity and on the Board of Trustees, including the roles of Financial Director and Elected Vice President. Alongside his humanitarian involvement, François was the Financial Director of UCPA, an organisation managing 130 sports centres, and has also held the position of General Secretary for IFAS, a consulting firm specialised in training and management.
Pilar is a Managing Director in the London Investor Relations and Business Development Group at Blackstone, where she is involved with raising capital for the company’s funds as well as managing investor relations. Before joining Blackstone, Pilar worked at the Boston Consulting Group as a Project Leader in London for three years and at JP Morgan’s Structured Finance teams in London and New York for over four years. She has also worked for the Financial Times, both as a writer and as part of the editorial team. Pilar received an MBA from INSEAD and graduated from University College London with a B.Sc. in Economics and from the University of Siegen. She speaks fluent German, Spanish and French. Pilar was appointed as a Trustee in 2011.
Frances Pasteur has worked with Action Against Hunger for many years and joined the charity in 1996 as a Nutrition and Food Security Officer in North Uganda. While working with Action Against Hunger she worked as a Strategic Advisor as well as Head of the Food Security and Nutrition Department. She has accrued headquarter and field experience over the years through her work as a nutritionist for various different charities. As a public nutritionist and a nutritional therapist, Frances has very strong experience in humanitarian and nutrition policy as well as strategy work.
Nicolas Sarkis is the Founder and CEO of AlphaOne Partners LLP, a private investment firm based in London and Luxembourg. Nicolas moved to France from his native Lebanon during the 1970s civil war. After graduating with an MBA from ESSEC in France, he joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 1993. He held various senior roles in the securities and wealth management businesses for over twelve years. He is the author of ‘Fear and Greed: Investment risks and opportunities in a turbulent world’ which was nominated for the Financial Times Best Business Book of the Year award. Nicolas was appointed as a Trustee of Action Against Hunger in 2012.
Tim Wright became trustee of Action Against Hunger in 2011. He brings to Action Against Hunger over twenty years’ experience as a business leader, advisor and entrepreneur. Tim was CEO of Willis International, the global insurance broker and risk management advisor. He previously worked in management consulting, at Bain & Company where he led the Financial Services practice, and Booz Allen & Hamilton where he was UK Managing Partner; in between these roles, he co-founded and ran a software company based in New York and London.
Action Against Hunger has Board Committees to make recommendations to the Trustees for decisions of particular importance to the organisation.
