Action Against Hunger has joined 88 other NGOs in a collective response to the 2026 Global Humanitarian Overview, warning that record levels of conflict, hunger and displacement are colliding with significant aid cuts, growing impunity for violations of international humanitarian law, and sustained political inaction.
With conflicts at their highest since modern records began in 1946 and famine re-emerging in multiple crises, the widening gap between soaring military spending and shrinking humanitarian assistance is stark. Signed by 89 NGOs, it calls for full and timely funding of the Global Humanitarian Overview, meaningful accountability for breaches of international humanitarian law, and a decisive shift of resources and decision-making power towards local and national organisations to prevent further loss of life.
