Action Against Hunger's statement on renewed violence in Gaza

Action Against Hunger urges an immediate end to violence in Gaza amid civilian deaths, aid restrictions, and staff injuries.

Action Against Hunger urgently calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza following the renewed escalation of violence that has caused significant civilian casualties and deepened an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

The fragile ceasefire brokered earlier this month has been severely undermined by armed confrontations and airstrikes, killing dozens of people, including women and children. Humanitarian access remains severely restricted, with Israeli authorities rejecting most aid shipments from international NGOs, including essential items such as food, water, medical supplies, and shelter materials.

Last night’s renewed violence caused minor injuries to one Action Against Hunger staff member after an Israeli airstrike hit a home in northern Gaza, damaging our colleague’s nearby residence.

Civilians must never be targets. We call on all parties to uphold international humanitarian law, ensure unimpeded humanitarian access, and protect civilians who continue to endure the worst of this conflict. All violations must be investigated, and those responsible held to account.

Action Against Hunger urges the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to secure and sustain a lasting ceasefire that enables humanitarian relief and the protection of human life.
