“Whilst the Government moves to appoint a new Prime Minister, the number of people across the globe facing life-threatening hunger is on the rise,” says Kate Munro, Action Against Hunger’s Head of Advocacy.

“The Prime Minister’s resignation provides an opportunity for the government to establish a new course for UK foreign policy and turn the tide on this devastating trend.”

“The UK was once a world leader at galvanising ambitious global action to cut hunger and malnutrition; saving and improving the lives of tens of millions of women and children.

“That leadership has reduced with aid cuts, the loss of the Department for International Development and changed priorities. Now is the time for the UK government to reclaim lost ground by putting famine prevention and poverty reduction centre stage,” says Kate Munro.
