Action Against Hunger responds to airstrikes in Lebanon

Humanitarian needs are critical and growing, though response capacity is severely limited. All parties are urged to cease hostilities and uphold international humanitarian law to protect civilians.

Today, Wednesday, 8 April 2026, approximately 130 simultaneous airstrikes were carried out by the Israeli army across Lebanon in less than 10 minutes, marking a major escalation. Initial reports indicate that more than 300 people have been killed, although figures are still being verified.

All our teams are safe. We are closely monitoring developments and actively assessing needs to continue responding, while prioritising the safety and security of communities impacted. Humanitarian needs are growing by the minute, but the capacity to respond remains far too limited.

Families across Lebanon have reached a breaking point. Hostilities must cease immediately.

We remind all parties of their obligation to uphold international humanitarian law, including the legal obligation to protect civilians.
