When the flood hit, thousands of families' homes were washed away. Around 2,300 houses were completely destroyed, with many more damaged.
We're supporting emergency shelters alongside partners and providing mental health support to survivors of the flash flood. Our teams are distributing 970 shelter kits to displaced families.

Severe flooding has struck the Trishuli River Valley in Nepal’s Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, with around 50,000 thought to be affected.
The flood hit when a glacial lake burst, after climate change and rainfall accelerated its melting.
“Immense volumes of water surged through a narrow, steep Himalayan valley. They carried with them mud, boulders, sediment and ice. It is a liquid avalanche moving at extremely high speed through the rugged terrain of the Trishuli Valley.”
