The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing an extreme humanitarian crisis.

Right now in the DRC:

  • 4.5 million children are malnourished
  • 26.5 million people are food insecure
  • 5.8 million people remain displaced
  • only 37% of people have clean water access
  • a massive 84% of people lack proper sanitation
  • there’s been at least 7,700 confirmed cases of Ebola.

Aid cuts have contributed to there being a massive gap in funding for aid in the DRC. We urgently need donations to meet growing need for emergency support.

Please give what you can today to support families in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Our response to the Ebola outbreak

On 15 May 2026 it was officially declared the DRC was experiencing it's 17th outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus.

We've responded with rapid action, including distributing infection protection equipment, running community awareness sessions and supplying health clinics treating Ebola patients.

Need in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is immense. We appreciate your donation now to continue our life-saving work.

Medical equipment

With at least 3,000 deaths so far, the DRC is in urgent need of medical equipment to help treat patients.

We've responded by providing essential medical supplies, including PPE, to 11 health facilities and clean water access to 4 facilities.

Your emergency donation can help us equip more health facilities with life-saving supplies.

Mental health support

The Ebola crisis is having a growing psychological impact on families in DR Congo, with 3,000 confirmed deaths so far.

In response, we've trained 90 community leaders in psychological first aid and provided mental health services to over 1,200 people so far.

Your donation now can help us reach more people in Congo affected by the trauma of Ebola.

Preventing Ebola spreading

One region in the DRC is experiencing a 46.6% lethality rate for Ebola. The risk of the virus spreading remains high.

We're working to reduce the spread of the virus, implementing contact tracing, triage points, alert reporting and community engagement activities.

Donating now helps us act quickly to prevent further spread of deadly Ebola.

How Action Against Hunger are assisting communities in the DRC

We’re providing life-saving humanitarian assistance in the DR Congo, reaching over 598,000 people with:

  • health and nutrition services to women and children living in displacement camps
  • emergency water, sanitation facilities and hygiene kits to prevent diseases spreading
  • essential medical and technical equipment for healthcare facilities
  • critical mental health support for trauma-affected communities
  • improved access to essential reproductive services

We have already had to shut some of our services in the DRC because of funding cuts.

And amid the recent Ebola outbreak, the humanitarian situation is escalating rapidly. Even more families are in need of urgent aid.

Please donate today to help us continue to provide life-saving assistance in DR Congo.
