Meet our Board of Trustees
Action Against Hunger UK is governed by a Board of Trustees who make sure we’re achieving our charitable aims and meeting all legal and statutory requirements.
Paul Wilson
Paul has been Chair of our UK Board since 2006. He is currently CEO of the World Platinum Investment Council, the Senior Independent Director for AXA XL’s Insurance and Reinsurance Businesses and Director of AXA XL’s Global ICSE subsidiary.
Frances Pasteur has worked with us for many years and joined the charity in 1996 as a Nutrition and Food Security Officer in North Uganda. A public nutritionist and nutritional therapist, she’s currently Senior Nutrition Policy Advisor at Save The Children UK.
Sanjay has 20 years of consulting experience at Bain & Company, and is a leader in Bain's consumer products practice. His previous roles include Economic Advisor at the UK Home Office and Strategy Advisor at the United Nations World Food Programme.
Jordan leads partnerships for Google Cloud’s telecom, media and entertainment enterprise customers in the UK and Ireland. She's passionate about supporting women in the STEM industries and is an active mentor and coach. Jordan became a trustee in 2020.
Eleanor is a Senior Policy Adviser at Deliveroo, the online food delivery platform. She previously worked as a journalist at the BBC, and was a Senior Political Correspondent between 2014-2019 appearing on flagship programmes like BBC One's 10 O'clock News.
Meet our Executive Committee
Our Executive Director and four directors make up our Executive Committee. They’re responsible for day-to-day decision making at the organisation and for managing our four departments.
Jean-Michel Grand, Executive Director
Jean-Michel has been Executive Director of Action Against Hunger UK since 2003. He started his career in the humanitarian sector in 1994 as a logistician during the Bosnian War and spent the following years working in humanitarian crises such as Chechnya, Northern Rakhine state in Myanmar, Tajikistan, Malawi and Zimbabwe, mainly for Action Against Hunger.
Over the past two decades, Jean-Michel has dedicated his efforts to addressing child malnutrition around the world and helping communities affected by humanitarian disasters.
Alison McNulty, Director of Operations
Alison McNulty has been Operations Director at Action Against Hunger UK since 2020. She brings a strong background in research, evaluation and strategy following a career in health and social care research, specialising in cancer, palliative care and bereavement support. She has worked in the humanitarian sector since 2010.
As a Director within the Action Against Hunger network, she manages expert teams who make our operations the best that they can be in order to have a world free from hunger. She leads teams whose expert work influences that of the whole sector; from influencing others in how to engage with communities to find what best works for them, through to shaping World Health Organisation guidelines.
Jamal Uddin, Director of Finance, IT and Administration
Jamal joined Action Against Hunger in September 2022. He has over 20 years’ experience working in the charity sector managing finance, IT and central services. He has expertise in developing finance business strategy, managing complex projects and develop shared services. He also brings a strong operational focus to deliver business outcomes, improve financial results and controls.
Maria Franklin, Director of Human Resources
Maria has been Director of Human Resources at Action Against Hunger UK since 2014. She started her career in Public Relations, before moving to the voluntary sector in 1993. Since then she has held a variety of HR and senior management roles in a number of UK based social care charities focussing on homelessness, mental health, children’s rights and services for those with disabilities, and volunteering.
