World Food Programme awarded 2020 Nobel Peace Prize

Our great congratulations go to the World Food Programme who have won the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.

We’re extremely proud to have worked with the World Food Programme as they support the needs and champion the voices of the millions of people going to bed hungry night after night, sometimes to the point of starvation, because of conflicts beyond their control.

Millions of people’s lives are being decimated by hunger and the number is rising. Despite the many in-roads that have been made, global hunger levels continue to rise. Now, as the world is gripped by a global pandemic, we need to shine a spotlight on the hunger pandemic trailing in the shadow of Covid-19.

Hunger is a global crisis that will continue to worsen with escalating conflict. It is an existential threat to millions of people around the world and if left unchecked could threaten billions of people in the years and decades to come.

We hope this prestigious award will act as a beacon, shining a spotlight on a hunger crisis that is growing on a daily basis. Governments must wake up to the scale of the challenge and put ending conflict-induced hunger centre stage of their diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.
