The violence continues in Gaza and Lebanon. And civilians are caught up in the middle of the conflict. A catastrophic humanitarian crisis is unfolding before us in the Middle East.

Attacks by air and by land have caused the widespread destruction of homes, schools and healthcare facilities.

  • In Lebanon, violence along the southern border with Israel continues to displace thousands of families.
  • In Gaza, children are already dying of hunger and thirst. People are starving.

We’re urgently expanding our humanitarian response to reach communities in dire need of support. Will you donate now to help families in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territory?

Yes, I’ll make an emergency gift now

The crisis in numbers

  • 42,000

Over 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in the conflict.

  • 1 in 5

Over 1 million people in Lebanon have fled their homes because of the violence. That's 20% of the population.

  • 1.1M

Half the population in Gaza is facing catastrophic food insecurity.

How is Action Against Hunger responding?

Lebanon

We’ve been working in Lebanon since 2006. We’re now rapidly scaling up our humanitarian response to reach those most affected by the conflict, including cash assistance, food, water, and essential supplies.

Since October 2023, our teams in Lebanon have distributed:

  • 600,000 litres of drinking water
  • 95,000 hot meals
  • 8,500 blankets
  • cash transfers to more than 7,500 people who have been forced to leave their homes

Gaza

In Gaza, we’re working with suppliers who still have stock inside to urgently distribute basic short-term supplies such as water, food, hygiene products, nappies, blankets and mattresses. We’re also providing a cleaning service at displacement shelters and have given emergency cash to families so they can buy essentials.

We’ve been working in Gaza since 2005. While our long-term programmes have been temporarily suspended to protect our staff and their families, our teams are ready to resume our humanitarian work as soon as it is safe to do so.

West Bank

Action Against Hunger is also responding to the crisis in the West Bank, where we’ve been working since 2002. Our teams have been supporting Palestinians affected by settler violence and home demolitions. Our work so far has included:

  • providing clean water and safe toilets to 60,000 people
  • reaching over 18,000 people through our food security and livelihoods programmes
  • giving shelter to over 5,000 people forced from their homes
