The number of civilian victims continues to rise. And the violence doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. A catastrophic humanitarian crisis is unfolding before us.

The situation in Gaza has left over 2 million people without access to clean water, food, medicine and energy. Without fuel, hospitals are running out of power for life-saving operations.

With the temporary ceasefire, some aid trucks are starting to enter into Gaza. But this is not enough. Before the violence escalated, there were 100 every day.

The UN estimates that more than 1 million people have been internally displaced in Gaza. With all border crossings closed or destroyed, there’s no escape.

How is Action Against Hunger responding?

We’re working with suppliers who still have stock inside Gaza to urgently distribute basic short-term supplies.

So far, we’ve been able to:

  • distribute over 20,000 litres of water
  • distribute vital short-term supplies, like food, nappies, blankets, mattresses and hygiene products
  • provide a cleaning service in one of the shelters for people fleeing their homes
  • give 268 people displaced by the violence emergency cash so they can buy essentials
  • distribute 350 fruit and vegetable baskets

As soon as there is a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, we’ll be ready to scale up our emergency response. Any money raised will help us to deliver vital aid as quickly as possible.

A humanitarian crisis is unfolding

Thousands of lives are at risk as violence escalates in Gaza.
