Cameroon

Thousands of people in the West African country, including refugees from neighbouring countries, struggle to get enough food.

Cameroon is facing an unprecedented triple humanitarian crisis: attacks from armed groups, escalation of independence- and separatist-related violence and the Central African refugee crisis.

Political strife in the Central African Republic and violence linked to the rise of Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region, have both led to an increase in refugees crossing the border into Cameroon.

There is also ongoing armed conflict between the government and local militias in English-speaking regions of the country, causing many to flee their homes.

Covid-19 has threatened the country’s access to food and affected both agricultural production and local food supply chains. Despite the easing of government restrictions, there has yet to be a full economic recovery as employment opportunities are still limited.
