Harvest Fundraising in your community

Be a hunger hero during harvest festival and help raise funds for Action Against Hunger

Harvest Fundraising in your community

When: September-October

Where: Your church or local community

Fundraising target: You decide

Fight hunger this harvest by being a Hunger Hero and fundraising for Action Against Hunger's lifesaving programmes. There are lots of ways to get involved from collections to bake sales and much more in between.

Our experienced team are on hand with materials and advice to support you when organising your harvest activities. We will also provide you with updates about how your fundraising helps Action Against Hunger ensure people around the world get the food, clean water, and healthcare they need to be free from hunger.

Hunger Heroes from church and faith groups around the country have been supporting Action Against Hunger through a huge range of activities for years – here are some of our favourites.

  • Hold a fancy dress day: why not give the day a Hunger Hero theme and ask the congregation to come to church in foodie or superhero fancy dress?

  • Organise an international food fair: celebrate food from some of the countries that Action Against Hunger works in around the world and add some flavour to your fundraiser.

  • Hold a harvest collection: put people’s loose change to good use and hold a collection at your service or event. To make this more fun why not make the collection box harvest-themed?

  • Hold your own bake-off: host a bake sale at your church hall or organise a bake-off competition amongst the local community, complete with judges comments and star baker awards.

  • Share a harvest lunch: organise a harvest lunch for people in your community and ask people for a donation to attend. Ask local businesses to donate ingredients and add an element of excitement by including a raffle on the day.

  • Get active: plan a sponsored walk or run with members of your congregation. You could also join a local event in your area and ask for sponsorship. If you want to make this more fun, why not try it out in fancy dress?
