Action Against Hunger’s spokesperson Chiara Saccardi spoke with BBC Radio 5 Live last night to discuss the urgent aid situation in Gaza, including the dangerous shortages of water and fuel, which may lead to hospitals ceasing to function, meaning that incubators, life support machines and other vital equipment could stop running.

Lack of water in Gaza ‘a health crisis on the brink of explosion’, says charity
Lack of access to water is one of the biggest challenges in Gaza, according to the international charity Action Against Hunger, which is warning of “a health crisis on the brink of explosion”.
Staff at the charity say overcrowded displacement shelters are close to breaking point. They add that one shelter in Gaza is currently supporting more than 24,000 people and that 60% of the children there are affected by diarrhoea. Some people are are also resorting to open defecation.

As part of her challenge, Alex added mealworms, grasshoppers and crickets to omelettes, smoothies and pasta, and said that the ‘feel-good’ factor usually associated with hearty meat-based meals was still replicated with her unusual experiment.

Action Against Hunger asks restaurants and food lovers to unite for a world without hunger
Love Food Give Food, the campaign which invites diners to add just £1 to their bill to contribute to Action Against Hunger UK’s life-saving humanitarian work, has returned in September for the 12th year.
In 2023, 174 restaurants are taking part in the Love Food Give Food campaign, which will take place from September to October, including Hawksmoor, Shoryu Ramen, Hakkasan and Darjeeling Express. Since the campaign’s inception in 2011, Love Food Give Food has raised over £3.5 million, while this year Action Against Hunger is hoping to raise over £200,000.
