Exciting news for 2017: This year your support will go twice as far!

This year's Love Food Give Food is extra special, as every single £1 donated in restaurants is going to be doubled by the UK Government! So if you join this year, the funds you raise will go twice as far in helping to change lives for the better. The UK Government will double all donations so mums and kids in Senegal can be supported with the nutrition and care they need to be healthy, as part of Action Against Hunger’s Healthy Mums Healthy Kids appeal.

You can find out more about our Healthy Mums, Healthy Kids appeal here. Read about 17 year old Aminata and her son Abdoulaye who is receiving treatment for malnutrition here.

Join our fantastic community of restaurants today and help mums and mums-to-be create healthier futures for themselves and their children.

Why should I sign up my restaurant?

Action Against Hunger has been working with the UK food industry for almost 20 years. By joining us you will be part of a fantastic, nationwide network of people who have a passion for good food and share our vision of a world without hunger.
Join 400 restaurants around the UK in raising important funds for Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving programmes, simply by adding £1 to your customers’ bills or making a donation with each purchase of a special menu item.
It costs your restaurant nothing at all, and is so easy to implement.

5 simple reasons to join:

  • Be part of a special network of restaurants and food lovers
  • Costs nothing and easy to implement
  • Saving childrens’ lives around the world
  • Benefit from positive PR and marketing
  • Unite your staff and customers around a life-saving cause

How do I implement the campaign? Will there be a lot of extra work for me?

Not at all, the campaign couldn’t be easier to run. We will send you everything you need, including table cards and other fundraising materials. And all you have to do is add it to your till system. You’ll be able to track how much you have raised on your system and at the end of the campaign, simply send the funds by bank transfer to Action Against Hunger.

Does that mean that my customers won’t leave a tip?

Our supporting restaurants have found that this has no effect on customers’ level of tipping, and is a great way to engage with customers to help fight world hunger together.

How will my customers respond to the campaign?

We have always had extremely positive feedback from both restaurants and customers about the campaign. We also have great engagement from customers with the social media competition (advertised on the table cards) encouraging them to tweet and post pictures of the restaurant they’re dining in or the table cards in order to be entered into the competition.

How will my staff know what to do?

A member of our team can arrange a short ‘about Action Against Hunger’ staff briefing for your teams, or we encourage you to run your own in-house training session. We also provide you with staff information sheets to pin to your staff boards, and we have a dedicated Facebook page for restaurant teams.

We have many supporting restaurants, cafés and pubs in this situation. We encourage them to set a minimum bill total for adding the £1 donation, such as only adding £1 if the bill is over £20.

Who else is on board?

This year we are proud to have over 400 restaurants fundraising in September & October. Love Food Give Food is supported by restaurants such as Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social, Angela Hartnett’s Murano, MEATliquor and Roka to groups including Hawksmoor, Pho and D&D London

Is there any other way to support?

Some restaurants add a small donation to one of their bestselling dishes during the campaign or year round. Current supporters range from Carluccio’s, who have raised more than £1.5 million to date by donating 50p from each sale of their popular Penne Giardiniera dish, to Hawksmoor who add 50p to their dessert of the month.
