On Monday 20th March, in association with Northern Restaurant and Bar 2017, our Too Many Critics event returned to Manchester. This year’s event was held at the stunning Ibérica Manchester. Located in the heart of Spinningfields, Ibérica offers authentic Spanish gastronomy with a modern twist.

Some of the country’s top restaurant critics and food writers experienced life on the other side of the pass – donning chef whites to prepare an exclusive dinner, which was judged by some of the North’s finest chefs and restaurateurs.

This year, guests were welcomed with a Champagne Taittinger reception, before the critics were put through their paces to create some traditional tapas dishes from Patatas bravas to grilled Ibérico pork. This year’s critics were Bill Knott (The FT’s How to Spend It), Mark ‘Gordo’ Garner (Manchester Confidential), Emily Heward (Manchester Evening News) Neil Sowerby (Manchester Confidential), Emma Sturgess (Delicious Magazine) and Ruth Allan (Manchester Wire). The night was hosted by restaurant critic and author, Joe Warwick. 

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to bid on a host of exclusive and money-can’t-buy experiences and items in our Live and Silent Auctions. 

All funds raised on the night went directly towards Action Agaisnt Hunger's work, providing malnourished children with healthier futures in nearly 50 countries worldwide.
