Joining Action Against Hunger's Community Champions programme is your chance to meet like-minded people in your area, make a difference by supporting our lifesaving work - and have fun the the process!
What is a Community Champions group?
A Community Champions group is made up of local volunteers that want to give their time, skills and enthusiasm to help raise vital funds and awareness of Action Against Hunger's work around the world. Groups are made up of people of all ages and background and are lead by an appointed Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary.
What do Community Champions do?
Group activities are fun, varied and flexible depending on the interests, skills and availability of the volunteers involved. Community Champions act as local ambassadors for Action Against Hunger in their area by:
- Organising monthly meetings to find out key updates about Action Against Hunger's programmes, and plan activities to support them
- Holding at least one fundraising event per year
- Promoting Action Against Hunger’s national campaigns on a local level to recruit new participants
- Holding at least one local charity collection (in a town centre, shop, train station etc.) per year
