LFGF Networking Event 2016 | Action Against Hunger

We say thank you to the restaurant industry at 100 Wardour St

In 2015 our amazing Love Food Give Food restaurants helped us raise over £325,000. We couldn’t carry out our life-saving work around the world without the loyal support of the restaurant industry. Thank you!

Mar 7 2016

On Monday 7th March, we held our annual celebratory event at D&D London’s newest venue 100 Wardour St to raise a glass for everyone that supported our Love Food Give Food campaign in 2015.

Love Food Give Food, sponsored by restaurant booking and payment app Velocity, is Action Against Hunger’s annual flagship fundraising campaign uniting chefs, restaurants and those who love food. Every year throughout September and October, hundreds of restaurants across the UK raise funds by adding a discretionary £1 donation to each table bill or making a small donation from a popular dish. Check out our restaurant directory to see the restaurants that participated in the 2015 campaign.

The night started with a small awards ceremony to congratulate our top fundraising restaurants hosted by our Director of Fundraising Matt White. Alongside Alex, one of the founders of Velocity (our Love Food Give Food 2015 headline sponsor) Matt recently visited Action Against Hunger’s programmes in India and was able to talk about the work he has seen there.

Our award winners

2015 Love Food Give Food Top New Fundraiser - Albert’s
This is the first time that any restaurant based outside London has won this award!

2015 Love Food Give Food Top Individual Fundraiser – MEATliquor
MEATliquor raised £11,958 in 2015 – this makes it a hat-trick as it’s the third year they’ve won this award. All the MEATailer restaurants raised £43,201 in 2015 and the total amount raised so far since 2013 is £112,164.36!

2015 Most Popular Love Food Give Food restaurant on Social Media - Bone Daddies
During Love Food Give Food we ran a social media competition sponsored by Velocity. The competition was depicted on the table cards and asked for diners to take a picture, tag where they were and use the hashtag #lovefoodgivefood. Ross Shonhan's restaurants had more than twice the amount of photos tagged in by twitter or instagram than any other restaurant taking part in the campaign.

2015 Love Food Give Food Top Group Fundraiser – Hawksmoor
Hawksmoor raised £31,186 as a group for Love Food Give Food in 2015, helping to bring the total amount raised by the group so far to a mighty £690,000!

Lifetime Supporter Award - D&D London
They have supported Action Against Hunger since we started working with the restaurant industry 18 years ago – raising over £250,000 so far.

A big thank you to our Headline Sponsor Velocity for sponsoring the event, and to D&D London and 100 Wardour St for hosting and providing the canapes. Thank you also to Domaine du Grand Mayne for kindly providing the wine, Portobello Road Gin for providing the gin for the signature cocktail the Wardour Fizz and Sambrook’s Brewery for providing the beer.
