Famine was declared in parts of South Sudan on February 20th, 2017, with 100,000 people facing starvation. An additional 1 million people are one step away from famine across the country.

Keynyang Deng is only 13 years old: he and his family are among the people on the brink of famine in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

In June 2016, Action Against Hunger provided emergency treatment to Keynyang's severely malnourished baby brother, and helped his mother with programmes providing clean water, and sanitation. Action Against Hunger is reaching 349,500 people in South Sudan with urgent humanitarian assistance.
