In June, we once again joined Taste of London for five days of foodie heaven.
Jul 17 2017
We have been working with Taste Festivals for over ten years, raising thousands of pounds towards ending child malnutrition in the process. The event was a huge success once again - the sun was shining, the food was fabulous and we raised a record-breaking sum at Taste of London.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised over £40,000 in total from all our activities at Taste of London 2017 – the most we have ever raised at a Taste of London festival! This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work, support and dedication from our volunteers, sponsors, chefs, 5 star chefs and of course Taste of London. From all of us at Action Against Hunger, we would like to say a huge thank you for all the generous support and enabling us to raise over £40,000 towards our work around the world.
We were delighted to serve up five delicious tacos, specially designed by five of the UK’s top chefs. Rick Stein, Yotam Ottolenghi, Adam Handling, Breddos Tacos, and Nieves Barragán-Mohacho each concocted a mouth-watering taco which we sold from our Action Against Hunger restaurant. We served up fish, vegetable, beef, chicken and pork tacos, not forgetting the tasty sides of tortilla chips and Padron peppers. One hundred percent of the proceeds from our restaurant go towards our life-changing work around the world. Aside from our culinary creations, we ran other activities at Taste of London, including our raffle and exhibitor stand. The raffle featured incredible prizes donated by some of our generous sponsors, including travel and foodie prizes.
This year, our exhibition stand featured photos taken by photojournalists Andrew Parsons and Ben Stevens, which debuted at our Hunger Through the Lens exhibition in 2016. The photos were taken in Nepal, South Sudan and Mali, countries where we have ongoing projects. Using art to communicate the work we do generated a lot of interest, whilst the life-saving therapeutic nutrition we give to malnourished children was offered as a taster to engage the public with a real life experience of the way in which we save the lives of malnourished children.
Isabel Kelly from Mash says: "We’re very happy to support Action Against Hunger and have been involved with their fundraising at Taste of London this year. It is a privilege to work alongside a charity that does such incredible work in feeding and supporting children and communities around the world."
A special thank you goes to Bill Knott, who initiated our relationship with Taste Festivals and without whom none of this would be possible. The final thank you goes to the Taste Festivals team for an incredible partnership of over 10 years, and for a fantastic Taste of London 2017!
Help provide children with healthier futures
