Palringo's Hero Squad
The community from Palringo, Action Against Hunger's gaming partner, are our heroes for playing Hero Squad
Sep 7 2016
We are always excited about new and interesting ways we can work with partners. One of our most innovative partnerships is with Palringo, one of the world’s largest mobile gaming communities.
This summer, Palringo launched a new game called Hero Squad. The game, all about saving the world, gave Palringo community members the chance to protect people from all sorts of dangers, gaining achievements and 'power ups' along the way. Half of the proceeds raised by the game went to Palringo’s charity partners: Islamic Relief and Action Against Hunger!
This campaign was our second partnership with Palringo and it was a great success! Around 62,000 people played Hero Squad, across 11,000 Palringo groups, with an average of more than£2,000 every day going to Action Against Hunger during the campaign!
From one community to another - Palringo and Rajasthan
It’s a thrill to know one close knit community can do so much for another. The community of passionate gamers at Palringo who have joined together to play Hero Squad, have raised vital funds for our work, including a large community project in Rajasthan, India.
Rajasthan is one of the Indian states with the worst nutritional indicators, with one in five children at risk of dying from hunger. With a total population of around 175k, Kishanganj is a rural area of Rajasthan where the main source of income is agriculture. Characterised by very poor living conditions, poor health and hygiene, it has a high prevalence of severe malnutrition, the most dangerous form of malnutrition.
The fantastic work of our team in India is helping to stem the tide of the problem, but the task is large. Palringo are one our brilliant corporate partners, alongside the likes of Soneva and the Edwina Lilley Foundation, who are supporting the team in India, to fight hunger head on, and allowing us to scale up our programmes in India.
Two of the Palringo team visited India earlier in the year to see how the money raised from last year’s campaign, "Fish Against Hunger" was used. You can read more about their experiences from the trip here.

Matt White, director of fundraising and communications, sums up how Palringo’s support helps us:
“The Palringo community are our heroes. They have raised an incredible £74,000 this year toward Action Against Hunger’s work which aims to end child hunger. The success of the Hero Squad game means that we will be able to save the lives of many more severely malnourished children. A massive thank you from all at Action Against Hunger to everyone who has been part of this fantastic achievement.”
Our thanks to Palringo and everyone who played Hero Squad this year, and congratulations to Palringo, who have now nearly raised $1 million through their charity campaigns!
