Nepal Trek 2017
Our hospitality industry team steps up to the challenge
Nov 1 2016
In March 2017 a team of 18 chefs, restaurateurs and food industry experts will take on an ambitious trek challenge through the beautiful Himalayas in Nepal, with the goal of raising over £120,000 for Action Against Hunger, to help save the lives of malnourished children and enable them to grow up strong.
Many of the team have supported Action Against Hunger for several years, and this will be the first time that most have taken on a physical or fundraising challenge of this scale - and it will certainly be tough! The team faces six long days on their feet through mountainous, challenging terrain, at altitudes of 2800m, camping each night along the route.
Enthusiastic trek team member Tom Hunt from Poco has no hesitation in taking on the challenge:
“I'm passionate about reducing food waste and ensuring food sustainability and this has helped me understand how the world is affected by our actions here in the UK and other wealthy nations - by the food we eat and waste, and its origins. I feel like we have a collective social responsibility to ensure that food is shared responsibly. Action Against Hunger is at the forefront of the fight against child hunger, ensuring that children can grow up strong, no matter where they live. It is a pleasure to be able to support them. Please donate generously to support the Nepal trek team and help improve the lives of malnourished children and their families around the world.”
Action Against Hunger has worked in Nepal since 2005, treating children for life-threatening malnutrition. When a devastating earthquake struck the country in April 2015, we scaled up our work there significantly. Today, families continue to rebuild their lives. We are providing malnourished children with urgent treatment and follow-up care, and work with the Nepalese health authorities to bring nutrition treatment to communities.
You can support the team in their fundraising efforts today by making a donation to one of their sponsorship pages below. Every donation is hugely appreciated and will help to provide malnourished children with healthier futures.
