Some of Britain’s leading chefs raised £45,000 to help end child hunger this week, uniting to create a unique gourmet meal at Action Against Hunger’s annual Global Gastronomy dinner.

Chris & Jeff Galvin of Galvin La Chappelle joined José Pizarro of new City hotspot José Pizarro Broadgate, Hameed Farook of 1901 & Eastway and Richard Corrigan of Michelin-starred Corrigan’s Mayfair, who also entertained guests as the night’s compere, at restaurant 1901 in Andaz London Liverpool Street hotel.
Each of the chefs donated their time and ingredients free of charge for the fundraising extravaganza, with Farook providing a canapé reception and supervising the kitchen while each of the others prepared a dish for the luxurious four-course dinner.
“Global Gastronomy is great fun to be a part of – uniting food lovers for a fantastic cause,” said Pizarro. In 2015, no child should be dying because they don’t have access to enough of the right kind of food. Having spent time with Action Against Hunger in India, meeting children and families personally affected by the most deadly form of malnutrition, it is even more important to me to raise awareness of this very preventable and treatable condition. And I’m pleased I can help by doing something I love.”
The evening’s ticket sales combined with the auctioning of money-can’t-buy prizes, including a private dining experience with Michelin-starred Vivek Singh and a stunning diamond pendant donated by Arctic Circle, raised £45,000 towards our work addressing child hunger around the world.
