Restaurant and Love Food Give Food supporter Urbano32 challenges Chester bar staff and waiters to race against hunger

On Sunday 18 September 2016, waiters and bar staff from Chester's hospitality sector will participate in the city's first waiter race to raise much-needed funds for malnourished children worldwide.
No doubt inspired by Team GB's Olympic and Paralympic performances in Rio, tension will be high as competitors take to the start line, trays full and legs limber, to compete for the coveted waiter race trophy and a meal for two at Urbano 32.
The heats will take place from 2pm on Bridge Street before entrants gingerly make their way up the road. Fearless staff from Chez Jules, Liquor & Co, Bar Lounge and Commonhall have already signed up. Following the race there'll be an after party at Urbano32 for participants and spectators.
Laura Lautrete, manager of Urbano32, says she hopes to build on the community feeling enjoyed by Chester's hospitality industry while raising awareness of the staggering 52 million children worldwide suffering with severe acute malnutrition - a condition that claims around a million young lives each year despite being both preventable and treatable.
"Action Against Hunger is the charity of choice for this industry and has forged strong ties with chefs, restauranteurs and critics over their 18 years of collaboration," she said. "It's impossible to believe that in this day and age children's lives are threatened by hunger."
