Celebrate Thanks-For-Giving Day with us
America celebrates Thanksgiving, Action Against Hunger celebrates Thanks-for-giving!

Thanks-For-Giving day calls on those who love food to come together and help end child hunger by hosting a fundraising event this Thanksgiving, 26th November.
Thanksgiving is traditionally a holiday to give thanks for the food collected at the end of the harvest season and to reflect on how lucky we are to have good nutritious food. This year we are calling on restaurants, chefs and supper clubs across the UK to join us in celebrating this wonderful day by hosting a fun Thanks-For-Giving themed fundraising event on the 26th of November.
We want to make a splash and get as many food lovers fundraising all at once on one special day. Here are some of our fun ideas and themes you could choose from:
Themed Menu! Choose a country Action Against Hunger works in and theme a menu around this – because we know all chefs love a good food challenge! We work in some of the world’s most interesting countries for cuisines, including; Peru, India, Ethiopia - so get creative! For our full list of countries click here.
Team up! We’ve seen some amazing chef and restaurant collaborations this year – you can join this list by teaming up and hosting your own pop up. Earlier this year Anna Hansen and Sabrina Ghayour teamed up and hosted a one off special supperclub at Modern Pantry night. Then in the summer, Dan Doherty and Damian Clisby hosted Nature at New Heights moving Petersham Nurseries to Duck & Waffle for 24 hours.
Raffle! This is an easy one, but can raise some serious cash! Simply host an online raffle for the month of November to win dinner for two at your restaurant on Thanksgiving. You can price the tickets as you like and host it on a JustGiving page – then encourage your customers to buy tickets via social media or your mailing list.
Donate a percentage of Takings! For those that want to donate but don’t have time to do a special event - simply let your customers know that a donation is being made on their behalf on Thanksgiving. Earlier this year MEATliquor raised £1,856 for Nepal by donating all it’s takings from chips sales on ‘Fryday’ and Sticky Walnut donated a whole evening’s profits on World Food Day last year.
