Action Against Hunger welcomes the arrival of new Secretary of State for International Development, Penny Mordaunt MP.  UK Aid has played an essential role in tackling global hunger and malnutrition,  that affects nearly 250 million children under five worldwide, particularly in conflict affected countries.  The Government’s commitment to reach 50 million children worldwide with nutrition interventions by 2020, and the recent launch of DFID’s new Nutrition Position Paper, means that now is an important time be leading the UK’s efforts to reduce malnutrition and tackle its underlying causes. We look forward to working with the new Secretary of State to support DFID’s contribution to achieving the Global Goal to End Hunger.
