Celebrated chefs Paul Merrett, Valentine Warner, Cyrus Todiwala and Simon Rogan will host a pop-up charity restaurant at the forthcoming Taste of London festival in aid of the official charity partner, Action Against Hunger. Rotating for the duration of the festival, they will swap their state of the art kitchens for the charity pop up to help make a difference to malnourished children worldwide.
Michelin-starred Paul Merrett, famous for creating British cuisine with an Asian twist, will serve a delicious menu consisting of home made Scotch egg on a salad of pea shoots, green beans & roasted beetroot with grain mustard dressing; and Sashimi style Loch Duart salmon with a shallot & chilli crunch & cucumber pickle.
He said: “Whilst food in London is all about fun, enjoyment and indulgence there are parts of the world where it literally means the difference between life and death. Action Against Hunger takes all that is positive about food and multiplies it ten fold. I’m really honoured to have been approached to host the Action Against Hunger stand at this year’s Taste Festival. I’m proud that my selection of dishes will be having such a positive effect on the lives of children throughout the world.”
All funds raised as part of the auction will go towards Action Against Hunger’s life-saving programmes in over 40 countries worldwide, including earthquake ravaged Haiti and drought-ridden Chad. Jean Michel Grand, Executive Director at Action Against Hunger said: “We would like to thank Taste of London and all chefs supporting the pop up for their generous support. At a time when a severe food crisis is happening in Niger and Chad, all funds raised will help make a crucial difference to hundreds of malnourished children and their families.”
Visitors buying their tickets through the official website of the festival can also make an optional donation of £1 towards the charity. For more information, visit www.tastefestivals.com/london/
