Oliver Rowe, one of Action Against Hunger’s chef ambassadors, prepared a modern dish of braised leg of lamb with peas, oysters and mint at the Foodies Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend, where Action Against Hunger was the official charity.
For three days, Hampton Court Palace hosted over 150 food and drink stalls as well as a Chef’s Theatre, where Oliver joined top chefs including Atul Kochhar and Gary Lee in a series of master classes and live demonstrations in the Chef’s Theatre.
Oliver is the chef patron at Konstam, a Kings Cross-based restaurant that sources over 80% of its ingredients from within the London tube network. Oliver took to the stage on Sunday and spoke passionately about his recent trip to Chad to visit one of Action Against Hunger’s programmes, urging food lovers to support the cause.
Visitors to the event were also tempted by sample dishes from top local restaurants including Paul Merrett’s The Victoria. Action Against Hunger’s stand offered an exciting food lovers raffle, which a long with donations raised £1,400. This was a great achievement and a big thanks goes to our wonderful sponsors Bingham Restaurant, Siam Food Gallery Thai Restaurant, Wagamama, Codomiu, Bodymatter Organic, East Teas, Chilli Creation, The Meal Kit Co, Richard Bramble and Harden's.
With the Foodies festival a successful event, sights are now turned to Taste of London (17-20 June) where Action Against Hunger is also the benefiting charity.
