Our annual Fight Hunger Eat Out campaign launched this morning, September 1st, with a £1 breakfast at the award-winning Coq d’Argent restaurant in London. Culinary luminaries Raymond Blanc, Marcus Wareing, Francesco Mazzei, Giorgio Locatelli, Vivek Singh, Cyrus Todiwala, Jun Tanaka, Mickael Weiss, Oliver Rowe and Tristan Welch came together to launch Fight Hunger Eat Out - the UK’s biggest foodie fundraising campaign - to help fight child hunger in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Now in its 12th year, Fight Hunger Eat Out urges food lovers to turn their passion for food into action and help raise funds towards the life-saving work of humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger. Every year over 500 restaurants throughout the UK support the campaign by inviting their food loving customers to make a big difference, simply by eating out.
Raymond Blanc OBE and ambassador for Action Against Hunger kicked off the campaign, saying: "This is a great opportunity to be part of a premier fundraising campaign for restaurants that is simple, rewarding and helping to raise money to prevent children dying from malnutrition. Just a little time and effort can make a positive difference to peoples' lives!"
Mickael Weiss, head chef at Coq d’Argent, commented: “Having seen firsthand Action Against Hunger's work in Kenya – the work they do is vital and being part of Fight Hunger Eat Out will make a difference in helping the charity continue to save lives.”
To get involved and help make this year’s campaign the biggest one ever, please visit participating restaurants throughout September and October.
The launch was kindly supported by Coq d’Argent, Champagne Taittinger and Action Against Hunger’s chef ambassadors.
