How do I raise money?

There are three main ways that restaurants can fundraise:

  1. Add a discretionary donation of 50p-£1 donation to customers’ bills
  2. Designate your bestselling dish to include a donation of 50p–£1
  3. Donate a percentage of food sales over a certain day, week or month

You can also host an event or fundraise for us year-round.

How do I promote the campaign in my community?

·         When you receive the fundraising pack in September, arrange a briefing to inform your staff about the campaign. Explain how they can raise funds and promote Fight Hunger / Eat Out.

·         Display the table cards in your restaurant and promote the campaign on your website and in your customer newsletters using our web button.

·         Adapt the press release template and send it out to the local media to generate free publicity and raise the profile of your restaurant.

·         Use menus and special boards to promote the campaign and specific dishes.

·         Be sure to let us know your plans so we can promote them on our website.

I’m not a restaurant, can I still fundraise?

Yes, certainly!

·        Delis, food shops and farmers’ markets can donate the proceeds from a certain product or display a donation box.

·        Food suppliers can provide restaurants with ingredients free of charge for fundraising events.

·        You could host a dinner party and ask your friends to make a donation.

·        Anyone can host a bake sale or coffee morning at their place of work and send in the proceeds.

For more ideas, or to send us an idea of your own, email rah@aahuk.org.

Do I have to raise a minimum amount?

There is no minimum amount. However, we do reward restaurants who raise £500 or more with a gold, silver or bronze rating and special mention on our website.

Where does the money go?

90p of every £1 raised goes directly towards Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving work in over 40 of the world’s poorest countries

·        Just £1 can help a farmer produce enough rice to feed his family for 4 days

·        £10 can buy a gardening kit including seeds, tools and fertilizers

·        £36 can provide a month’s complete home treatment for a severely malnourished child

Once I’ve raised the funds, how do I pay in the money?

·        Pay it directly into Action Against Hunger’s bank account: Co-operative Bank, Account No 65027015, Sort Code 08-92-50.

·        Alternatively, send a cheque (made payable to Action Against Hunger) to FREEPOST, Action Against Hunger, London, SE10 8JA

Will I get a letter acknowledging my donation?

Yes, we send everyone who raises money for us a thank you letter and certificate.

If you have sent in your funds but have not yet received an acknowledgement, please email us the amount raised, payment method and date to rah@aahuk.org.
