Restaurants Against Hunger (RAH) is an international movement of restaurant owners, chefs and food writers supporting Action Against Hunger and its goal to end child hunger.
RAH was founded in 1998 in the UK as a week of fundraising centred around World Food Day on 16th October. The aim was to raise funds for the global fight against hunger and malnutrition by inviting food lovers across the UK to make a difference simply by eating out.
The fundraiser has grown considerably since this time to become a month-long fundraising campaign in both the UK and the USA, with many restaurants from across the world also supporting the charity throughout the year.
Here in the UK, RAH has raised over £1.2 million over this time, with fundraising and support from the restaurant industry growing every year.
“What could be more worthwhile than helping people from going hungry? Action Against Hunger is a practical organisation where good intentions are turned into reality.” Charles Campion, London Evening Standard
