About the Nutrition Champions Development Scheme
Action Against Hunger’s Nutrition Champions Development Scheme is a new, innovative project aimed at strengthening our fight against malnutrition in the West Africa region.
Launched in collaboration with Carluccio's, it aims to pool the knowledge and experience of Action Against Hunger nutritionists and nutritionists from partner organisations in West African countries in order to create a platform where nutritionists can exchange information, experiences and learnings.
In addition to furthering their expertise in nutrition issues, this pool of excellence will help the Nutrition Champions voice their opinions and concerns of issues related to nutrition from a grassroots and regional perspective. Therefore it also has the potential to initiate a West African grassroots movement on nutrition which could strongly influence policy and lead to policy change.
The scheme will also help raise awareness of the work carried out by the Nutrition, Food Security and Health workers in the region:
- Firstly, by featuring our Nutrition Champions from across the region who work at field level, we will be able to highlight their challenges and achievements and bring the silent pandemic of malnutrition to the forefront.
- Secondly, by capturing the knowledge and experience of different actors in the region, we will develop understanding of nutrition and its impact on health and social & economic development.
