This is carried out after the distribution in the homes of the beneficiaries. It assesses the relevance of the programme regarding the needs, the impact of the distribution and helps to define future beneficiary targeting. It evaluates how the ration is used and whether it meets beneficiaries’ nutritional needs, how it is redistributed within a household, what is its contribution to the household budget, and what is its impact on the local economy and production. The indicators used are: the percentage of food needs met by the distributed ration, the percentage of the ration consumed within the household, the price of basic food items, and the percentage of the ration in the household budget.

In PRA, the emphasis lies in the participation of the studied population to better identify the needs. PRA and RRA include a variety of data collection and analysis methods, such as group interviews, direct observation, mapping, questionnaires, stories, etc. (the list is far from exhaustive). (note: the mapping mentioned here means to make maps, and is not the same as the mapping –“zonage”– defined below).
