Following displacements in Khorfulus due to insecurity in February this year, high malnutrition rates unveiled in the past assessments and impending food insecurity in both areas, Action Against Hunger deemed it necessary to undertake a nutritional anthropometric survey. The survey was undertaken in Khorfulus and Atar areas in May 2008 with the specific objectives to, inter alia, evaluate the nutrition status of children and to estimate the measles immunization coverage.

This paper looks at the food security assessment of Rawalpindi, which has been conducted in close relation with the nutrition/medical component and partly with the water & sanitation expertise. The Malnutrition Causal Analysis approach constituted the conceptual framework for the general assessment.
