27 November 2011 - On Saturday night, the brand new and highly acclaimed Hawksmoor Guildhall opened its kitchens to four of the best chefs in the country for an exclusive evening, and raised funds for malnourished children around the world.
Head chef Richard Turner welcomed a dream team of Jun Tanaka (Pearl, Street Kitchen), Judy Joo (Iron Chef), Matt Laville (Pollen Street Social) and Valentine Warner (BBC) to cook up a storm for the evening’s lucky guests.
The soiree was hosted by Bloomberg’s Richard Vines and the fantastic Ravinder Bhogal, and featured a delicious Champagne Taittinger reception, a scrumptious five course meal with drinks, and a state-of-the-art silent auction of once-in-a lifetime experiences.
The spectacular event raised over £35,000 to support the vital, life-saving work which we conduct around the globe. Explaining his choice to work with the charity, Hawksmoor co-owner Will Beckett said: "Action Against Hunger is an amazing charity, doing humbling work around the world. We’re incredibly fortunate to make a living working with food and doing what we love, so it seems only right that we should try and do what we can for a charity fighting hunger and malnutrition in some of the world’s most deprived countries."
Over 2011, the three Hawksmoor restaurants aim to raise an incredible £100,000 for Action Against Hunger, a figure equivalent to treating more than 2,700 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. The eveningwas the final push needed to enable us to achieve our ambitious target.
