Carluccio’s CEO Simon Kossoff and six members of his team are set to attempt a 500-mile charity bike ride this July in aid of Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian charity committed to ending child hunger in some of the world’s poorest countries.
The eight-day cycle ride will begin on Saturday 7th July at Carluccio’s in Glasgow, where Antonio Carluccio will see the team off. The group will then cycle all the way from Glasgow to London, travelling via Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham, Milton Keynes and St Albans, where they will make stops at Carluccio’s restaurants. At every stop, Carluccio’s will donate £1 from each main course sold that evening to Action Against Hunger.
At St Albans on Friday 13th July, supporters can join the cyclists for the last 20 mile leg of the challenge to London’s West End where they will be welcomed by Antonio Carluccio at the St Christopher’s Place restaurant and present a cheque to the charity for all monies raised to date.
Carluccio’s has supported Action Against Hunger since 2008 and has already raised £700,000 for the charity, mostly through a 50p donation from sales of its popular dish Penne Giardiniera. This summer, Carluccio’s aims to break the £750,000 mark and is seeking donations which can be submitted at www.justgiving.com/carluccios.
