Pakistan: Six Months After the Floods

Contenu

ACF-Pakistan, N.Sobecki

26 January 2011- Last July Pakistan was hit by the worst flooding in its history. Monsoon rains swept away homes, bridges and roads, leaving millions displaced and in need of immediate assistance.

Since the floods our emergency programmes have reached some 550,000 Pakistanis whose lives have been turned upside down. Our first priority was to contain the spread of deadly water-borne illnesses by providing access to clean water and emergency sanitation while we work to rehabilitate water networks and distribution systems.

ACF is also helping families who have lost everything get back on their feet through access to small cash grants to jump-start businesses, seeds and tools for the new agricultural season, and cash-for-work programmes to generate income.

In the features below you can see with your own eyes how your support has made and continues making a difference to families in Pakistan.

ACF Brings Clean Water & Emergency Sanitation to Pakistan (Video)

Without access to clean water and sanitation, thousands of Pakistanis residing in makeshift camps set up in the aftermath of the flooding are at risk of cholera, severe diarrhea and other water-borne illnesses. Find out how ACF is providing hope for thousands of flood survivors.
