Strictly Come Dancing Champion Camilla Dallerup and her dance partner Ian Waite delighted guests with two spectacular performances at the sell out Dance Against Hunger in association with The Event Hire Company on the 6th of June. Not only were guests treated to first class entertainment, but fundraising at the event itself raised over £40,000, a new record for this bi-annual Hampshire Ball.
Camilla commented: ‘It is so important for us all to be reminded often that there are people in the world who need our help with the basic things which we take for granted every day, like water and sanitation. Ian and I have been fortunate in our childhoods and to think that we played a small part in helping Action Against Hunger is the most amazing feeling.’
A highlight of the evening was the evenings dance off where ten Hampshire couples took to the floor after just 8 weeks training, where they were subjected to the scathing eye of the Celebrity Judging Panel and voting guests. The winners as voted for by the audience were Joanna Simpson and Tom Featherstone, who danced the Waltz.
Hosted by Fifth Gear presenter Tiff Needell, this glittering black-tie event took place in a spectacular ballroom themed marquee at Oaktree Farm, in Lockerley, Romsey where guests were treated to a Champagne Taittinger reception before embarking on a delicious three-course supper immaculately prepared by top London chefs Mickael Weiss from Coq d’Argent and Peter Weeden from Paternoster Chop House followed by live music from the BBC’s very own Strictly Come Dancing band.
