The annual Ken Hom Lecture, hosted by Oxford Gastronomica, will be held at Oxford Brookes University on the evening of 28th September 2011. Hosted by Ken Hom, the lecture will be delivered by Sheila Dillon, presenter of BBC Radio 4's Food Programme. In a lecture entitled The Bollinger Bolsheviks versus The Foodies, Sheila will explore the impact that food journalists have had on the British diet.
Now in its fourth year, the Ken Hom Lecture is becoming established as a key event in the annual culinary calender. Previous contributors have included Lord Patten of Barnes and Cherie Blair.
In addition to engaging a wide audience on food-related issues, the event also provides an opportunity for a high-profile community of food professionals to support Action Against Hunger. Following this year's lecture, Professor Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, will host a dinner and auction, the proceeds of which will go to Action Against Hunger.
Our auctioneer will be Charles Campion, one of the UK's most prominent food writers and critics. As in previous years, the event will be attended by many of the most familiar faces form the UK's food and drinks scene.
If you would like to attend either the lecture (free of charge) or the prestigious dinner (£50), please visit the Oxford Gastronomica booking page to reserve your spot (advance booking essential for both).

Now in its fourth year, Nom Nom Nom is a MasterChef style competition giving the internet's finest bloggers, food photographers and food writers the chance to compete against each other in a professional kitchen in London. On Sunday July 17th 2011, eight teams of two shopped around Marylebone for ingredients to make an office lunch for four people.
These were judged by a panel of food professionals (including Tom Pemberton - Head Chef & co-founder of Hereford Road restaurant, Susan Low - deputy Editor of delicious magazine, Julia Parsons founder of the UK Food Bloggers' Association (one of the winners of Nom Nom Nom's very first contest in 2008) and Darryl Healy - Head Chef of Riding House Cafe). Also everyone can get involved in a Viewer's Choice vote.
As well as winning some amazing food & kitchen appliance prizes, the overall winners Tete-a-Tea will have their food served for a week in Rosalind's Kitchen - a new take out cafe in London, W1, so that busy office workers & shoppers can try out the winning lunch menus.
As with all previous years, an online raffle will also give everyone the chance to win some fabulous prizes, with money raised going to Action Against Hunger.
To enter the fantastic post-event online raffle in aid of Action Against Hunger (featuring prizes worth £1000s) and to read all about the competition, visit the Nom Nom Nom webpage.

On Thursday 8th July, Action Against Hunger held a Champagne Taittinger Cinema Screening and Auction in the luxurious private cinema at Sanctum Soho Hotel.
This special evening gave Action Against Hunger’s regular supporters the opportunity to find out more about our work in the 6 months since the devastating earthquake that shook Haiti on the 12th January.
Greeted by a champagne Taittinger reception and canapés – and a retreat from the very hot day outside – our guests were given the opportunity to meet one another, and Action Against Hunger staff.
Our guests then watched footage of our work, and had a Q&A session with Jean-Michel Grand, Executive Director of Action Against Hunger UK about our long term commitment to provide stability to the devastated nation.
An opulent auction of goods and experiences, including luxury holidays, stunning jewellery and meals at some of London’s most exciting new and relaunching restaurants gave guests the opportunity to contribute to our field projects in more than 40 countries around the world.
Action Against Hunger would like to thank our sponsors for their very generous support of this event:

Nom Nom Nom is a Masterchef for bloggers; a chance for the Internet's best writers, photographers and bloggers to get together, have fun, and show just what they can do given a professional kitchen.
The three course menus produced will be based around three principles; seasonal, simple & sustainable. This means that all menus created will be things that ordinary people can cook at home, and which are environmentally friendly.
A team of respected judges, including Susan Low, Deputy Editor of Delicious Magazine, and Nick Wyke from the Times, will assess their work and award fabulous prizes, before the public picks its Viewers' Choice based on the pictures and videos taken on the day.
If your culinary and blogging skills aren’t up to scratch, you can still get involved after the event by selecting your ‘Viewers Choice’ favourite and entering the Nom Nom Nom online raffle in aid of Action Against Hunger for the chance to win fantastic foodie prizes.
