The influential Michelin Guide has honoured more female chefs in Britain in 2011 than ever before and we are incredibly lucky to have welcomed some of them to the Fine Wine Auction this year.
Angela Hartnett MBE (Murano), Anna Hansen (The Modern Pantry), Claire Clark MBE and Clare Smyth (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay) all cooked at this year’s event. For the first time, these revered chefs worked together to create a culinary masterpiece which thoroughly impressed our discerning diners.
We also teamed up with Champagne Taittinger, Justerini & Brooks, Château Pichon-Longueville, Château Suduiraut, Taylor's Port and Courvoisier to ensure that this unique four-course dinner was complemented with some of the world’s best wine, champagne, port and cognac.
This year we raised over £200,000 in an effort to turn wine into water for thousands of malnourished children around the world, so thank you so much to everyone involved! To read more about how this year's event went please click here.

This prestigious event took place at 1 Lombard Street, a stunning City restaurant set in a Grade II listed former banking hall, on Saturday 8th October 2011. With World Food Day on 16th October this was an ideal time to focus all our efforts to raise money for Action Against Hunger!
Guests were treated to a Champagne Taittinger reception and four-course meal, created exclusively by top chefs and complimented by world famous wines kindly donated by Justerini & Brooks, Château Pichon-Longueville and Château Suduiraut. Guests then had the opportunity to enjoy a glass of port or cognac courtesy of Taylor's Port and Courvoisier.
One of the key highlights of the evening was the Auction in association with Luxury Explorer which offered an exclusive array of fine and rare wines and other 'money-can't-buy' prizes. Lots included dinner for two at Noma in Copenhagen (recently named the World's Best Restaurant for the second year running) as well as the opportunity to snap up dinner at other top restaurants around the world, Michelin starred chef experiences and one-off tastings at some of the world’s finest vineyards created especially for the Fine Wine Auction.
Guests also had the rare opportunity to bid for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to one of Action Against Hunger's field programmes and witness first hand our life saving work in treating children with acute malnutrition.

For the third year running, Angela Hartnett will be joining us from Murano, the 1 Michelin Starred Italian fine-dining restaurant in Mayfair where she has been chef patron since 2008. She became the sole owner in October 2010.
Under the leadership of Gordon Ramsay, Angela achieved her first Michelin-star in 2004 at the Connaught, using knowledge gained from her Italian grandmother to champion modern cuisine with an Italian accent. Angela is currently writing for the Guardian in a weekly recipe column and has new book out in July 2011.

Anna opened The Modern Pantry in 2008, and under her care, this innovative restaurant and café has received 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence and much critical acclaim. Selected as one of the 100 most significant young chefs in Coco 2010, Anna’s modern, global cooking style has caused a stir.
Anna has a prestigious background in the culinary world, having worked under Fergus Henderson, and opened the pioneering The Providores with Peter Gordon in 2001, which won a Catey ‘Newcomer of the Year Award’ in 2003. Anna’s ‘The Modern Pantry Cookbook’ has just been published by Ebury.

Château Pichon-Longueville is strongly positioned as a rising star in the elite group of the “Supers Seconds" of Bordeaux. It is made from a rigorous selection of the best grapes from old vines at the heart of this historical estate . The wines produced are powerful, rich in tannins, and characterised for being both elegant and muscular. They have an exceptional length in the mouth, and possess a remarkable ageing potential.
Château Suduiraut is proud to be supporting the Fine Wine Auction Against Hunger for the second year running.
Château Suduiraut, 1er cru classé of Sauternes, situated in the Southern part of Bordeaux, is considered to be one of the greatest sweet wines in the world. To maintain the quality of Château Suduiraut each grape is picked individually once the tiny yet capricious Botrytis Cinerea fungus has grown on them; this only happens with a combination of morning mists and sunny autumn day. These grapes will produce elegant, complex wines with floral and fruit flavours and a lovely golden colour; these wines offer outstanding longevity.

Taylor's are supporting the Fine Wine Auction for the first time this year by kindly donating Taylor's LBV for after dinner.
Taylor’s were pioneers of the LBV category, developed to satisfy the demand for a high quality ready-to-drink alternative to vintage port for everyday consumption. Unlike vintage port, which is bottled after only two years in wood and ages in bottle, LBV is bottled after four to six years and is ready to drink when bottled. Taylor’s continues to lead the LBV category of port worldwide, in spite of the fact that many other shippers now also produce an LBV.
