- Organise a sponsored walk, run or swim with your local school, friends or colleagues
- Organise a mini-festival in your garden and take donations for the guest list
- Arrange a community treasure hunt and donate the entry fees
- Organise a pub quiz and donate the proceeds

How to organise your event
The first steps:
- Contact us to discuss your plans
- Decide upon a date, select and book a venue
- Do a risk assessment
- Notify police/ambulance service/council if necessary
- Plan how you will promote the event
- Organise any entertainment you require
- Invite local dignitaries to attend
- Seek volunteers to help on the day
- Contact Action Against Hunger for a press release template
- Ask local companies for prizes
- If you have a raffle, check with us if you will need a gaming license
A few weeks before your event:
- Keep records accurate of ticket sold and money received
- Send out participant information/tickets
- Draw up any safety procedures and rotas for the volunteers
- Plan the timing for the day of the event
- List and secure all equipment required
Days before:
- Finalise all of your plans
- Brief your volunteers on the event and health and safety procedures
- Final checks - guest lists, equipment etc
- Send out a final email reminder to participants/guests
On the day:
- Re-brief all volunteers and check safety procedures
- Set up your equipment
- Set up all signs/decorations
- Register and collect entrance money or tickets
- Welcome and thank everyone who has come along
- Check everyone is safe and enjoying themselves
- Clear up
- Bank any money
After the event:
- Thank everyone involved - volunteers, guests, entertainment, prize donors
- Collect any outstanding monies
- Contact us with post event info - event pictures, total raised
- Transfer the funds to Action Against Hunger
